BIO MONTSE OLIVER

Montse was born in Barcelona and has lived in Atlanta, Zurich, Winchester (UK), Singapore, Geneva and Tokyo. At the beginning of 2020 she settled again in Geneva.

Montse has always led a somewhat nomadic life. In 2006 she began regularly attending painting classes as she fell in love with the challenge and possibilities of a blank canvas. By then, she had already been changing countries for a few years together with her husband and children and, in 2008, with a new move on the way, Montse decided to put her corporate job on hold. Since then, lectern and painting accompany her to her new destinations.

Her Mediterranean roots together with the experiences lived in these countries that she calls her home are her great influences and sources of inspiration for her. The light that nature offers at different latitudes and seasons of the year, the landscapes and smells that we are not used to or the architecture, all of this is part of that set of emotions that Montse wants to convey.

A vibrant color palette and a set of feelings are very present in her works. Her professional background in finance still marks her work and she strikes up an internal conversation by intermingling the carefree brushstrokes with the calculated strokes. Her paintings combine abstract and figurative styles that alternate writing and geometric elements with a touch of realism.

Her works have been part of international collective exhibitions in several countries in Europe and Asia.
